A Day Designed Around What Matters Most: A Hampton Manor wedding story
From the very beginning, Luke and John’s brief was super clear: the day needed to feel like them - surrounded by the people they love most, with delicious food and drink at the heart of the celebration. They wanted an atmosphere that was elegant and stylish, but never stuffy; something that captured a sense of luxury while still feeling fun, relaxed, and full of joy. My job was to create a timeless, elegant but laid-back celebration, ensuring every detail reflected their personalities perfectly.
Tranquil Groom Preparation
Luke and John both got ready in the Cottage, a beautiful tranquil oasis for groom prep! They decided that they wanted to have a pre-ceremony glass of champagne with their closest friends and family in the cottage before heading over to the ceremony and in their own words, this was one of their favourite moments from the day; ‘The pre-ceremony drinks reception in the beautiful cottage was such a lovely moment, getting to spend some time with our closest friends and family was the perfect start to the day!’
An Outside Ceremony Adorned with Florals
They were fairly adamant that they were going to get married outside and they got their wish. Luke recalls, ‘Walking out the door and down the aisle was pretty unforgettable!’ The ceremony layout was unique in the sense that all guests were seated facing the Manor House because on each and every site visit, John had always commented on the beauty of the clock tower and how beautiful it would look as a backdrop to their ceremony photographs. Two beautiful floral urns framed Luke and John as they said their vows, and just as they had wanted, the Manor House and the clocktower were the perfect setting.
A Ceremony that was Personal and Meaningful
When Luke and John described the ideal character to marry them, I truly didn’t know if I could find such a person but through my network of fellow wedding planners, ‘Stuart the Celebrant’ was recommended and he was the perfect person! Reflecting on their deeply meaningful ceremony, Luke and John recall, ‘Stewart’s ceremony was everything we could have hoped for, it felt like he’d known us for years.’
The Magical First Look of the Courtyard
Another stand out moment was Luke and John’s first look at The Courtyard and as a planner, seeing their faces light up with pure joy and emotion meant everything. Luke comments, ‘Our first look at The Courtyard was a really special moment, a real ‘we’ve done it’ moment. Amy did an incredible job!’ The tables were immersed in white and green florals and flickering candlelight whilst a contemporary floral arch framed the top table. A real showstopper.
A Culinary Highlight
Food and drink were always high on Luke and John’s priority list and they approached it with such enthusiasm. They recall their wedding tasting as being an ‘epic night’ – a night of delicious food and drink, and some tough decisions because everything was so good!
They also designed two bespoke cocktails based on their favourite drinks, which became a real talking point at the reception.
While they say that every dish was outstanding on their wedding day, the scallops with XO bisque ‘stole the show - While every dish was outstanding, the scallops with XO bisque’ stole the show – we have no idea how they cooked so many to perfection!’ From a wedding planner’s perspective, when a couple and their guests still talk about the food after the wedding, you know the priority of delicious food’ was achieved (and then some)!
A Venue that Felt Perfect
Hampton Manor was such a good fit – ‘we always knew Hampton Manor was the perfect place for us; we were sat in The Library when we decided we should get married and never thought about anywhere else! It’s a perfect blend of classy but relaxed, which is what we wanted for our wedding.’ That balance mirrored exactly what they wanted their wedding day to feel like, making it the ideal venue for their celebration.
My role as their wedding planner…
Planning Luke and John’s wedding was an absolute joy from start to finish, not only because of their clear vision but because every decision was rooted in creating a day that felt genuinely personal to them. From relaxed champagne moments in the Cottage before the ceremony to an outdoor celebration framed by meaningful views of the Manor House, every element reflected their personalities and priorities — elegant yet never formal, luxurious yet wonderfully relaxed. One of the greatest pleasures as a planner was witnessing their reactions throughout the day, especially their emotional first look at the Courtyard, when months of thoughtful planning came to life. Their shared love of exceptional food and drink added another layer of excitement, resulting in a celebration guests are still talking about. Seeing Luke and John surrounded by their favourite people, completely present and full of joy, was a powerful reminder of why I love what I do: creating weddings that feel timeless, effortless, and unmistakably them.
